Photoshop is constantly evolving, and the latest updates bring some powerful new features to the table. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just starting out, these tools can significantly speed up your workflow and enhance your creative projects.
Here’s a breakdown of the key updates:
The Remove tool is now more flexible and powerful than ever. You can use it in a few different ways:
Lasso Tool Integration: Simply use the Lasso tool to draw a selection around an object you want to remove. A new "Remove" button will appear in the contextual taskbar. Click it, and Photoshop will use its updated technology to intelligently remove the object, seamlessly filling the space.
Enhanced Accuracy: You don't need a perfect selection. Even if your selection is a bit messy or misses some edges, the tool is smart enough to accurately remove the subject without leaving behind weird artifacts.
New Layer Option: The Remove tool now has a "Create New Layer" setting. If this is checked, every time you remove something, Photoshop creates a new layer for that edit, keeping your original image untouched. If you prefer to work directly on the same layer, you can uncheck this option.
When using Generative Fill or Generative Expand, you can now choose between different Firefly image models. This gives you more control over the final output. You can experiment with different models to see which one produces the best results for your specific project. As you scroll through the generated options, Photoshop will tell you which model was used for each.
You can now share your work directly from Photoshop to other applications without having to export first. This new "Send to Apps" feature is a huge time-saver. You can send files to Lightroom, Slack, or other relevant apps. If you're on a Mac, you can even use AirDrop to send a file straight to your phone or another device.
This is a game-changer for compositing. The Harmonize feature automatically matches the color and lighting of a subject to its background.
Effortless Blending: If you place a subject from one scene into another with different lighting, simply click the "Harmonize" button. Photoshop will analyze the background and adjust the subject's colors and light to match, creating a realistic blend.
Shadow Creation: Not only does it match color and light, but it can also generate realistic shadows based on the light source in the background. You get multiple options to choose from, allowing you to pick the one that looks best.
This tool uses technology to upscale images while adding detail, rather than just stretching pixels.
Increased Resolution: You can upscale an image by 2x or 4x. For example, a 600x600 pixel image can become 2400x2400. The tool creates a new document with the upscaled image, so your original file remains unchanged.
Adding Detail: When you zoom in on an upscaled image, you'll notice it's not just a blurry mess. It tries to invent new details, making the image look sharper and more refined.
Limitations: The maximum upscale limit is 4096 pixels. You can't continually upscale the same image beyond this size.
For those who collaborate, the new Projects feature is a major update. It allows you to create shared projects and invite others to work on them with you.
Collaboration Hub: You can add files and Photoshop documents to a project.
Controlled Access: When you invite people, you can choose whether they have editing rights or can only comment, giving you control over the collaboration process.
These updates show that Photoshop continues to push the boundaries of what's possible, making complex tasks simpler and more efficient for everyone.
